Fleet Trust Welcomes Fresh Start

The Fleet Trust Board is delighted that Ebbsfleet United's future has been secured through the takeover of the club by KEH Sports Ltd. (KSL) following a troubling and turbulent 2012/13 season.

Less than two months ago, there was the very real danger that, without new owners, we would lose our club. Now we can look forward to a fresh start with substantial investment from KSL into the club, the team and the ground, alongside the purchase of the Fleet Leisure facility.

The Trust welcomes the club's new chairman, Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi, and the new directors, including Peter Varney, as well as the new management team of Steve Brown and Steve Gritt, and the players who are joining the Fleet for next season, including captain Paul Lorraine, Joe Howe, returning FA Trophy winner Stacy Long and the ever-expanding group of new boys.

Graham McQueen, chairman of the Trust, last night thanked the Ebbsfleet fans: "It has been a difficult few months for the club, but the fans have been magnificent. Their support and contributions have kept their club going through one of its darkest periods. Thankfully we can now return to talking about football rather than discussing how we're going to pay the debts."

Trust Board member Phil Moss paid tribute to the outgoing majority owners, My Football Club (MyFC): "If it wasn't for MyFC, I wouldn't be associated with the Fleet. MyFC introduced me to Stonebridge Road and I'm grateful to them for that, as well as providing significant financial investment into the club since February 2008. Unfortunately, the ownership model became unsustainable and I'm thrilled that MyFC agreed to sell to KSL."

The Trust Board now look forward to working with the new owners and supporting their vision of returning Ebbsfleet United to the Conference Premier and, ultimately, joining the Football League for the first time in our history.
